Levyco Development, LLC

Process

The best laid plans are laid in order. Every engagement follows the same four steps, Learn, Architect, Implement, and Deliver, and repeats them as the project teaches us more.

TL;DR

Levyco Development, LLC meets with its customers and develops a plan and schedule to meet the customers’ needs, including project features, timelines, costs, staffing requirements, training, documentation and support. Every project is different, but the outcome is always the same - a satisfied customer and satisfied users. We guarantee all our software for both fitness of purpose and trustworthiness (no malware, adware, spyware, call home, self-help (timebomb), or other deceitful elements are ever present in our code).

A first conversation

It starts with a conversation about your problem: what you need, why it’s hard, what you’ve tried, and what success looks like. There’s no charge and no obligation. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so.

We ask this question first: Is there and off-the-shelf solution that you could tailor yor business and processes to, or are those compromises you can not, or are not willing, to make?

If you are willing to change your business in order to fit an off-the-shelf solution, then we believe you should seriously consider that option. Many times that is the cheapest route. However, it is not always the case – many large per-seat or consumption based solutions will be very costly in the long run. This is a very important inflection point and should not be overlooked.

Learn

We study the domain, the people who will use the system, the constraints, and the edge cases, until we understand the problem well enough to explain it back to you. The result is a written description of the requirements that you can review and correct.

Architect

We design the system and write down the significant decisions, each with its reasons and the alternatives we considered. You see the plan before any code exists, while changes are still cheap.

Implement

We build in small, working steps, each one tested and demonstrable. You see real progress regularly, and the plan adapts as we learn.

Deliver

We put the system into production, hand over documentation and everything needed to run it, and stay available for support.

Working together

You’ll always know where the project stands. We keep the documents current, share progress early and often, and raise problems as soon as we see them rather than when they become emergencies.
